Event: The fourth annual race features a 4 mile run around beautiful Bangs Lake in Wauconda, IL, as well as a 2 mile fun run/walk down Main Street and around Cook Park. It will be family-friendly
Date & Time: Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27th, 2014 start time 9:00am for the 4 mile run and the 2 mile walk. The awards ceremony will be at 10:15AM, with the program completed by 10:30. Food and drink vendors will remain until 11:00am.
Course: The 4 mile race will start on Main Street at Mill Street and go around Bangs Lake through neighborhoods. The course is hilly and challenging, yet scenic. It ends on Mill just before Main Street. The 2 mile fun run starts on Main at Mill, continues to Cook Park and back and ends on Main Street @ Mill.
Organizers: StarRunners, a division of the non-profit STAR (Sharing Time and Resources) is organizing the event. Chris Rueb (Race Director), Katy Rueb (Volunteer Coordinator) and Linda Starkey (Event Chair) are the organizers of the event. They each are involved in various organizations and businesses in the Wauconda area. There are many
Beneficiaries: All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry.
Amenities: All participants will receive a goody bag, which will contain an event T-shirt, a list of sponsors and a variety of health-related items. Trophies (in the shape of turkeys) will be awarded to the first and second place overall male and female contestants, as well as the first and second place winners in 5 year age categories. While competitive runners compete for results and trophies, also added is a best costume award to maintain a fun and recreational atmosphere.
